Water-Methanol Injection for the BMW M4 F82
(S55, 317 kW / 431 hp)
The S55 bi-turbo in the pre-Competition M4 delivers 317 kW (431 hp) from 3.0 L — a high specific power output that translates to high intake air temperatures and aggressive knock-control retard in the upper load range. With Stage 1 or Stage 2 tuning, the thermal picture sharpens noticeably, and without active charge-air cooling the theoretical headroom never reaches the wheels reliably. BMW itself fitted water injection from the factory to the M4 GTS — the technology is OE-recognised in motorsport and premium tuning.
Recommended configuration for the M4 F82 (317 kW): We recommend the Stage 3 DI variant. Direct-injection engines like the S55 require the DI-specific injection with fast pressure ramp-up and the matching Hyper-Sonic nozzle setup. Stage 2.5 Power-Max is a reasonable alternative for moderate tuning stages up to ~+15 % gains. Stage 1 is sufficient for daily driving with OEM software.
Effect in numbers: −40 to −60 °C intake air temperature under full load, +10 to +25 % power gain depending on stage, significantly reduced knock-control retard in upper RPM ranges, higher thermal reserve under track-day loads.

Boost Cooler vs. Boost Cooler ProLine
Standard Boost Cooler kits ship with red pressure hoses and push-on fittings. The ProLine variant uses stainless steel braided lines and AN fittings - motorsport-grade pressure resistance, higher heat tolerance.
