Water Injection for the Audi RS6 Avant C7 Performance
(4.0 TFSI V8, 445 kW / 605 hp)

The 4.0 L V8 bi-turbo in the RS6 C7 Performance is built in a hot-V layout — both turbos sit inside the engine valley, directly on the manifolds. This delivers compact packaging and extremely fast turbo response, but also very high intake air temperatures under full load. In the tuning scene the RS6 C7 is among the most rewarding candidates in the Audi lineup: Stage 1 software tunes deliver 720+ hp, hardware-supported builds (intercoolers, downpipes, larger turbos) reach 800–900 hp without exception. Exactly in this load range water injection provides the thermal headroom needed to convert theoretical headroom into real power at the wheels.

Recommended configuration for the RS6 C7 Performance: We recommend the Stage 3 DI variant. The 4.0 TFSI is a pure direct-injection V8; the DI-specific Boost Cooler controller with fuel-rail pressure mapping and Hyper-Sonic nozzle setup is mandatory. Stage 2.5 Power-Max is the leaner option for software tunes up to ~700 hp. Stage 1 is only sufficient for OEM software without further tuning.

Effect in numbers: −40 to −60 °C intake air temperature under full load, +10 to +25 % power gain depending on stage, reduced knock-control retard in the high-load zone, significantly higher thermal reserve under repeated full-load events — decisive on a hot-V V8 with its dense packaging.
