Methanol Injection for the BMW M5 F10 Competition
(S63B44, 412 kW / 560 hp)
The S63B44 in the M5 F10 is a 4.4 L V8 bi-turbo in a hot-V layout — both turbos sit inside the engine valley, directly on the manifolds. The result is a compact build, short gas paths, and from the factory extreme intake air temperatures under full load. With Stage 1 tuning many M5s hit the 700 hp mark, and hardware-supported builds at 800+ hp are not uncommon. Exactly this load range demands active charge-air cooling — water-methanol injection lowers EGT peaks and gives the tune the thermal headroom the engine needs to actually deliver the power.
Recommended configuration for the M5 F10: We recommend the Stage 3 DI variant. The S63 is a pure direct-injection V8; the DI-specific Boost Cooler controller with fuel-rail pressure mapping and Hyper-Sonic nozzle setup is mandatory. Stage 2.5 Power-Max suits moderate software tunes up to ~650 hp. Stage 1 is the right pick for OEM software without hardware mods.
Effect in numbers: −40 to −60 °C intake air temperature under full load, +10 to +25 % power gain depending on stage, reduced knock-control retard in the upper load zone, significantly higher thermal reserve under repeated full-load events (autobahn, track) — critical on the S63 with its hot-V architecture.

Boost Cooler vs. Boost Cooler ProLine
Standard Boost Cooler kits ship with red pressure hoses and push-on fittings. The ProLine variant uses stainless steel braided lines and AN fittings - motorsport-grade pressure resistance, higher heat tolerance.
