Water Injection for the VW Golf VI R 4Motion
(EA113 2.0 TFSI, 195 kW / 265 hp)
The EA113 engine in the Golf VI R is the predecessor of the EA888 and is regarded in the tuning scene as one of the most robust 2.0 TFSI builds ever: iron crankcase, forged conrods from the factory, high tolerance against software stages. Stage 1 tunes deliver 320+ hp without effort, hardware-supported builds reach 400+ hp comfortably. At these power levels the engine hits its thermal ceiling under full load — intake air temperatures climb, knock control pulls timing increasingly. Water injection is the established path to reclaim that headroom and actually convert tuning gains into power at the wheels.
Recommended configuration for the Golf VI R: We recommend the Stage 3 DI variant. The EA113 is a pure direct-injection engine; the DI-specific Boost Cooler controller with fuel-rail pressure mapping and Hyper-Sonic nozzle setup is the right path. Stage 2.5 Power-Max suits moderate software tunes up to ~320 hp. Stage 1 Starter Kit is enough for OEM software setups.
Effect in numbers: −40 to −60 °C intake air temperature under full load, +10 to +25 % power gain depending on stage, reduced knock-control retard in the 4,000–6,500 RPM band, higher thermal reserve under sustained autobahn loads and track use.

Boost Cooler vs. Boost Cooler ProLine
Standard Boost Cooler kits ship with red pressure hoses and push-on fittings. The ProLine variant uses stainless steel braided lines and AN fittings - motorsport-grade pressure resistance, higher heat tolerance.
