Water-Methanol Injection for BMW M4 F82 Competition
(S55, 331 kW / 450 PS)
The S55 twin-turbo inline-six in the M4 Competition is engineered for high specific output — 331 kW (450 PS) from 3.0 litres. That layout means high intake-air temperatures and a firm knock-control envelope in the upper load range. With Stage 2 or Stage 3 tuning, the thermal picture tightens further, and without active charge-air cooling the load peaks climb. BMW itself fitted water injection from the factory on the M4 GTS — the technology is OE-recognised in motorsport and premium-tuning circles.
Recommended setup for the M4 Competition: we recommend the Stage 3 DI variant. Direct-injection engines like the S55 require DI-specific injection with fast pressure ramp and the matching Hyper-Sonic nozzle sizing. Stage 2.5 Power-Max is the alternative for moderate tunes up to roughly +15 % power. For a stock daily-driver, Stage 1 is enough.
What you actually gain: −40 to −60 °C intake-air temperature under full load, +10 to +25 % power (stage-dependent), markedly reduced knock tendency in the high-rpm range.

Boost Cooler vs. Boost Cooler ProLine
Standard Boost Cooler kits ship with red pressure hoses and push-on fittings. The ProLine variant uses stainless steel braided lines and AN fittings - motorsport-grade pressure resistance, higher heat tolerance.
